Why YOU should be a member of PTA

PTA is the oldest and the largest child advocacy group in the United States. PTAs at the local level are valuable assets to their school communities by providing educational and parent involvement information, resources, events, and activities. They are linked to Idaho PTA and National PTA, forming a nationwide network of members working on behalf of all children and youth.  Here are some reasons why YOU should be a member of PTA.

  • Learn to be a better parent through National and State PTA publications
  • E-learning classes are offered through the National PTA website for members
  • Leadership training available on line and in person.
  • Training is also provided on holding effective meetings and member communications.
  • District and State Board members provide training throughout the year including fall conferences, quarterly meetings and the annual state convention.

  • Get to know the teachers and administrators on a personal level as you work with them.

  • Meet your child’s friend’s parents
  • A state newsletter is published five times a year and includes up dates on events around the state, leadership development articles and program ideas.
  • National PTA has several electronic newsletters as well as the Our Children magazine that are great resources on a variety of topics.

 ADVOCATE

  • PTA trains parents to be advocates for their children and for all children.

  • On a local level, PTA helps parents be advocates for thier children in their schools nad school districts.

  • At a state level, PTA works hard to be advocates for ALL of IDaho's choldren by working closely with legislators and educational agencies.

  • On a Federal level, Notional PTA works with various committees and like-minded organizations to make improvements for children. They also advocate for children at our nations capitol.

ROLL MODEL

  • You will be showing your children the importance in being involved at the school and giving back to the community
  • Teach your children by over coming your shyness and becoming a leader
